Verizon has agreed to a $100 million customer class action settlement over claims it charged undisclosed administration fees.
Today, April 15, marks a critical deadline for individuals who may be eligible to participate in a settlement with Verizon.
In a recent legal case, Verizon was determined to pay $100 million to customers who were affected by certain business practices that were challenged in court.
Those who believe they are entitled to a portion of this settlement must act quickly, as the opportunity to claim their share will close by the end of the day.
The lawsuit came into light when Verizon’s “administrative charge” was called misleading by plaintiffs because it wasn’t shown in the advertised monthly price and was considered deceptive.
Verizon, however, denied these claims, stating that this fee was clearly explained during sales and in their marketing and billing, asserting that it covers regulatory and network costs.
The lawsuit, which consolidated four different cases in New Jersey (where Verizon is based), led to a settlement.
The issue of such “junk fees” has also been targeted by the Biden administration, aiming to ban misleading charges and require clearer pricing.
