Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, is facing criminal charges against guns and is set to begin the trial next week.
The prosecutors are set to undermine and interrogate Hunter’s struggles with addiction to crack cocaine.
This trial will significantly impact Joe Biden’s image, as it is rare for the child of a sitting president to face criminal charges.
However, Hunter Biden is facing three criminal charges for the deeds he did in September.
As per reports, Hunter was charged by U.S. Special Counsel David Weiss in September 2018 for lying about using illegal drugs when he purchased a .38-caliber Colt revolver and handed it illegally for about 11 days.
According to the Department of Justice, if Hunter is found guilty of all the charges, he can face a maximum punishment of 25 years in prison. However, Hunter has pleaded not guilty to three federal criminal charges.
This charge marks another historic case in a presidential position.
However, the first tends to appear in the criminal charges against Donald Trump for the deeds he did as a former president, whose trial is ongoing in Manhattan court.
Both trials will significantly impact the election counts, as people are facing a dilemma about how to decide their vote counts.
On one side, the current president, Joe Biden is aged 81 years and trying to get re-elected for another four years.
But he’s having a tough time because people are worried about rising prices and conflicts in places like the Middle East and Ukraine.
On the other hand, the other side is former President Trump, a Republican who was Biden’s opponent in the last election.
He’s facing charges in court related to lying about business records to hide payments he made during the 2016 election. This is just one of several trials he’s involved in.
Republicans have been trying for a long time to show that Hunter Biden made money illegally because of his father’s position.
In September, Hunter Biden will be in another tax trial in Los Angeles, which is also being handled by the same prosecutor, Weiss. However, he has not pleaded guilty to these charges.
The prosecutors are set to share evidence like photos, messages, and testimony to show that he was using illegal drugs when he bought the gun but didn’t commit the truth.
They might even call his ex-wife to talk about incidents involving drugs and can even trace his phone and laptop to collect evidence.
Hunter Biden admitted in his autobiography that he struggled with addiction. To convict him, prosecutors must prove he lied on the gun form and knowingly had the gun while using drugs.
However, Hunter’s defense team is set to encounter all the evidence. They say that the gun found in a trash bin had cocaine traces, but it took five years for prosecutors to test it.
They also suggest the laptop might have been tampered with before the government got it. The defense says the gun purchase form was changed after Hunter Biden submitted it.
Hunter Biden claims he’s been drug-free since 2019, but the judge dismissed it, and the trial is set to start on Monday.
