Brooklyn Nine-Nine one of the most famous shows of Netflix, a series based on the NYPD police force with a light heart comedy, was all set for the next season.
Although one of the cast member Terry Crews said, “Our showrunner Dan Goor, they had four episodes all ready to go, and they just threw them in the trash,” Crews said. “We have to start over. Right now, we don’t know which direction it’s going to go in”.
The team took this decision as they are trying to put light on the current situation of police brutality and racism going on. The cast has been talking about the issues to be addressed on the show, and they have had a lot of discussions on the problems as well.
Terry Crew also said, “We’ve had a lot of somber talks about it and deep conversations, and we hope through this, we’re going to make something that will be truly groundbreaking this year. We have an opportunity, and we plan to use it in the best way possible.”
Andy Samberg, aka Jake Peralta, who plays the goofy cop in the series, usually plays the light side of the story and tackles many topics on the show. Uniquely in season 4 when Terry gets racially profiled by a white cop while he was off0duty in his neighborhood.
Earlier this month, the cast and the Goor donated 100,000$ dollars to support the nationwide protests that retook place. And they also stated that they “condemn the murder of George Floyd and support the many people who are protesting police brutality nationwide.”
The show is loved by the entire fans worldwide for its light-hearted comedy, and the exceptionally well-played characters. The growth of the characters from season 1 to 7 has been splendid, and the series has gained a lot of popularity in the coming years.
Although with this news, it will interest to see what season 8 will bring for the audience and how they cast members, and the story will tackle the issues that are faced by the world today.
