Xfinity Mobile hotspots to boost the internet speed with over WiFi up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps).
With the continuous upgrade and extensive WiFi facility, Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile tap into the nation’s largest and most powerful WiFi network to deliver their customers even more speed.
As per Comcast, 90 percent of the traffic over Xfinity is traveled over WiFi rather than cellular networks.
The spokesperson explained that the speed increase is supported by Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E and a software update for the hotspot network. Mobile devices were also updated to use faster speeds.
“Customers do not need to do anything proactive to enable this speed increase and may have already noticed faster speeds,” the spokesperson said.
“As we make improvements on our network, more hotspots will be able to deliver these faster speeds.”
With an investment of more than $20B over the past five years to upgrade the Xfinity network, Xfinity Mobile continues to deliver a better experience to support data-intensive applications.
The introduction of new innovative features like WiFi Boost is meant to support consumers to stream, game, chat, download, and surf wherever they are.
“We’re supercharging hotspots to unlock the full potential of our customer’s mobile devices and give you the boost you need, when you need it, to download a large file, stream a live sporting event, or host an important video call”, said Koshposh Kuda, Senior Vice President, Xfinity Mobile, Comcast in a press release.
With the new unlimited data plans, Xfinity Mobile helps Xfinity Internet customers add more connectivity lines with simpler and increased savings.
Its unlimited plans also offer free calling and texting to Canada and Mexico from the United States.
Since its launch in 2017, Xfinity Mobile, along with Comcast Business Mobile, has witnessed fantastic growth, collectively adding over 6.5 million lines.
The increase in the appeal of the services of value-added benefits to Xfinity Internet customers marks the ranking of Xfinity to be among the top mobile providers for customer satisfaction.
“A billion devices connect to WiFi over our network because it delivers a superior experience. We’ve invested billions of dollars in a network that can support the massive growth in data consumption and our WiFi Boost upgrade is a huge win for our mobile customers,” said Kohposh Kuda.
As per Comcast, the introduction of WiFi Boost is set to hit the internet connectivity for over 60 million homes and businesses.
With the fiber-based network, Comcast aims to deliver an unparalleled online experience to users across its vast footprint, spanning more than 23 million WiFi hotspots.
The introduction of WiFi Boost marks the culmination of years of intensive research, technological innovation, and massive investments.
Comcast has committed over $20 billion since 2018 alone to enhance development and infrastructure.
As the WiFi Boost delivers lightning-fast internet speeds, Comcast promises users a myriad of benefits, including 99.99% reliability, advanced cybersecurity protection, minimal latency, and seamless access to streaming content.
This marks the second big Wi-Fi announcement this month. Last week, they launched the NOW brand, which includes a new NOW WiFi service that enables people to access Comcast’s hotspots for $20 per month.
“With NOW, we’ve developed a new product construct from the ground up to be simple and easy for anybody who wants internet, mobile, or TV on their own terms without sacrificing quality. It rounds out our product offering to provide something for every consumer segment of the market and plays to our strengths in superior network capabilities, WiFi, and streaming,” said Dave Watson, Comcast’s president and CEO of connectivity and platforms.
