On July 10, 2016, hundreds of Memphis protestors blocked the 1-40 bridge to raise awareness for black voices in Memphis They were protesting for the Black Lives Matter campaign.

Floyd’s death caused a summer of protests where chants of “Black lives matter” echoed through city streets. They convicted former police officer Derek Chauvin of Floyd’s murder while three other officers await trial on related charges, but Abraham said that’s only a start.

About 15 million to 26million people took part in the 2020 Black lives matter protests in the United States.

Besides an array of views, the movement calls for reforms of the criminal justice system. The popularity of Black lives Matter was net negative in 2018, it grew increasingly popular through 2019 and 2020.

The Movement for Black Lives is a coalition of over 50 groups representing the interests of black communities across the United States. Following the murder of George Floyd, which called for sweeping legislative changes surrounding policing.

The movement for Black Lives is a coalition of multiple groups more than 50 groups are taking interests of Black communities across the United States. Members include in the Black Lives Matter, are The National Conference of Black Lawyers and the Ella Baker Centre for Human Rights.

It is endorsed by multiple groups such as Color of Change, Race Forward, Brooklyn Movement Center, Policy link, Million Woman march cleaned, and one DC, The coalition receives communications and tactical support from an organization named Blackbird.

 

The name Black lives matter signals condemnation of the unjust killings of Black people by police (Black people are far more likely to be killed by Police in the United States than white people) and the demand that society value the lives and humanity of Black people as much as it values the lives and humanity of white people.

BLM activists have held large and influential protests in cities across the United States as well as internationally. A decentralized grassroots movement, Black Lives activists in local chapters who organize their own campaigns and programs lead Matter. The chapters are affiliated with the Black Lives Matter global Foundation, a nonprofit civil rights organization that is active in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Its efforts have included calls for better training for police and greater accountability for police misconduct.

BLM activists have also called for “defunding” the police – that is reducing police department’s budgets and investing the freed-up funds in community social services, such as mental health and conflict-resolution programs. BLM activists have also worked on voter registration and get out the vote campaigns in Black communities. In addition, BLM programs have celebrated Black artists and writers.

African Americans, along with many whites and people of different cultural backgrounds, are continuing the work of great activist like Dr Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks and so on and so forth.
