Rebels fired rockets at Eritrea airport from Tigray, Ethiopia: The tensions that have been continuing in Ethiopia for the past twelve days have increased significantly as a rebel military force operating in the Tigray region of Ethiopia attacked rockets at an airport in Asmara, Eritrea’s capital on Saturday.
A local leader of this rebel army team reported this on Sunday morning.
He also told that ‘the fight is still going on in Ethiopia on many fronts’.
Rebels fired rockets at Eritrea airport from Tigray, Ethiopia
According to information received from news agencies, at least three rockets were fired on the Eritrean capital on Saturday night, out of which two rockets fell at Asmara Airport.
A senior leader leading the Bagi military group said that they targeted the Eritrean airport because Ethiopian troops were using that airport to attack in the Tigray region.
However, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abe Ahmed Ali has dismissed these allegations in one of his tweets.
However, analysts say that the latest attacks have added to the situation in the region which has caused thousands of Ethiopian citizens to be displaced.
Nobel was won for peaceful relations
PM Abe Ahmad Ali took power in the year 2018, and since then, major changes started in Ethiopia.
Only last year, he was given the Nobel Peace Prize for establishing peaceful relations with his neighbouring country Eritrea as both Ethiopia and Eritrea fought a devastating war two decades ago.
But the rapid changes in Ethiopia under Ahmed Ali’s government have removed the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), which had been active in Ethiopia’s politics for a long time.
For this reason, there is tension between the central government of Ethiopia and the TPLF, which has increased after the recent attacks.
The rebel military groups of the Tigray region have even alleged that Eritrean soldiers entered Ethiopia to help Ethiopian soldiers.
However, Prime Minister Ali has also termed it wrong. Eritrea has also said that it is not involved in this regional dispute in any way.
However, according to the information received, there is no news of anyone being killed in the attack in Eritrea, but this tension has already increased due to this incident.
