According to the Mumbai Police, the popular rapper Badshah has paid an amount of Rs. 72 lakhs to get additional views on one of his music videos titled ‘Pagal hai’ to break a record of viewership on any music video. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has questioned him last Friday in connection to a racket selling fake social media followers and views to the influencers.

After the questioning session, Deputy commissioner of police, Nandkumar Thakur told Mumbai Mirror that the singer has confessed that he paid Rs 72 lakh to purchase 7.2 crore views as he wanted to set a world record for the most number of viewers in 24 hours on YouTube.

He further alleged that the music video Pagal hai got 75 million views in the first day of release and thus reached the top spot by beating the previous record of Taylor Swift and the Korean boy band BTS. However, Google has rejected the claim.
Meanwhile, another police officer has told that they are also scrutinizing the other music videos of the rapper posted on YouTube.
Badshah denies allegations against him while the Mumbai police claimed that he has confessed buying fake views for one of his music videos
On the other hand, denying all the claims and allegations made against him, Badshah said that after being summoned, he appeared before the police and cooperated in their investigation while carrying out the due diligence on his part.
He further added that he has completely denied the allegations claimed against him as he has never been involved in such practices nor accept them. He said that he has complete faith in the authorities handling the matter and thanked the people who were concerned for him.
The matter came into highlight when singer Bhoomi Trivedi got to know about her fake profile on social media platform Instagram and approached the Mumbai police to complain against it. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was set up with the collaboration of Mumbai Police Crime Branch and Mumbai Police Cyber Cell and is being headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Nandkumar Thakur with former ‘encounter specialist Sachin Vaze being the chief investigating officer.
The police then busted the scam through analytical technical-intelligence on 14th July and arrested one person. The Mumbai Police has so far probed around 20 personalities in this case.
